Abstract
Pituitary apoplexy in children is extremely rare #clinicalsyndrome,
and potentially lethal due to #adrenocorticotrophichormone (ACTH)
deficiency. It is characterized by acutehaemorrhagic or infraction of
the pituitary gland. We report a 13 year-old-boy who presented with
acute headache, vomiting, and visual loss. He was diagnosed to have #macroprolactinoma, with acute haemorrhage into the mass by #magneticresoranceimage (MRI), and raised #serumprolactin. Serum ACTH, cortisol,
thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), and free thyroxine (FT4)
were low. This report aims to remind the general practitioners and the
emergency practitioners of the initial assessment and management of
pituitary apoplexy.
