Abstract

Animal assisted therapy refers to the use of animals such as dogs, cats, rabbits, turtles, birds, among others in the care of hospitalized patients. This study aimed to analyze the benefits of Dog Therapy for children with cancer. It is a systematic review of the literature, carried out in Scielo and with the descriptors “assisted therapy” and “animals” and in the VHL, with the descriptors “assisted therapy”, “animals” and “pediatrics”. The articles published in Portuguese and English, available in full, published between 2005 and 2017 were considered. We found 8 articles that dealt with the subjects: animal use in assisted therapy, hospital infection, role of the team in assisted therapy, #humanization, lack of familiarity, recommendations and benefits of assisted therapy. It was observed that the #AssistedTherapy brings innumerable benefits enabling improvement in the care for both the patient and the #health professionals.

The use of Animals in Assisted #Therapy: Systematic Review of the Literature by Bruno Vilas Boas Dias in BJSTR

Abstract

Background: Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short #PalindromicRepeats (CRISPR) is a part of an adaptive immune system in prokaryotes and occurring in diverse forms of bacteria.

Case Presentation: We presented the results of sequence analysis which can help in understanding the presence of CRISPR-mediated antiphage ability in both pathogenic and non-pathogenic strains of #Escherichiacoli.

Conclusion: #EndogenousCRISPR spacers with imperfect matches are the candidates of anti-phage function in genetically distant strains of E. coli.

Abstract

In emergency situations the approach of the airways is crucial for the reduction of the #hypoxemia and consequently of the #neurologicaldamages. In prehospital care, the advanced management of the airways is pointed out as one of the five research priorities in prehospital critical care. The management of the airways is the first intervention in emergency situations as one of the recommendations of Advanced Trauma Life Support. #Endotrachealintubation is a procedure of choice for doctors. However, the use of the pocket-valve-mask is effectively evidenced by a new two-hand sealing technique. The objective of this study is to perform a review on the management of the airways in emergency situations.

Abstract

#Aloevera is a plant with height of almost 60-100cm containing very short stem or stem-less long leaves and belongs to the family#Asphodelaceae. The aloe vera or succulent has a long history of being used for medicinal purposes, dating back to ancient Egypt. Aloe species are widely distributed in the African and the eastern European continents, and are spread almost throughout the world. The plant leaves contains numerous vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, natural sugars and other #bioactivecompounds with emollient, purgative, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, #antifungal, antiseptic and cosmetic values for health care. The leaves of #Aloebarbadensis are the source of two different products with medicinal properties: a yellow latex-like juice obtained from the cells just beneath the epidermis of the leaves with laxative properties and the #parenchyma, the inner part of the leaves consisting of a mucilaginous gel.

Abstract

The quality consistency of TCM injections is the key guarantee of safety. Quality evaluations for Shenmai injection are specified in The National Drug Standard (WS3-B-3428-98-2010Z). However, the #separationefficiency of this method is low; few characteristic peaks have been reported, as well as the lack of identification and further application. For this reason, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) conditions were optimized to establish a chemical fingerprint for Shenmai injection, and #liquidchromatography-mass spectrometry (MS) was used to identify the components producing the characteristic peaks.

Quality Monitoring of Shenmai Injection by High- Performance #LiquidChromatography Fingerprinting by Hongxia Huang in BJSTR

Abstract

This paper reports the results of a study conducted from November 2008 to April 2008 at sebeta slaughterhouse. An investigation was carried out to study the prevalence of #cystic-echynococcus in cattle’s slaughtered in sebeta municipal abattoir. The study revealed that the prevalence that of #hydatidcysts is 176.55% and 74 visceral organs we found harboring one or more hydiatid cysts. The lung was found to be the most commonly affected organ, but Spleen and heart were found to be less commonly affected organ. The numbers of cysts obtained from single lung ranges 1-20. Cyst fertility assessment yielded 65(52%) sterile, 23(18.4%) fertile and the rest 37(29.6%) calcified cysts, 69.6% of the fertile cysts being confirmed viable cysts and the rate of calcification is higher in the liver than in the lungs, while most fertile cysts were recovered from the lung.

Prevalence of Sports Related Oral Injuries and Use of Mouth-Guards: A Mini Review by Ajay Jain in BJSTR

Abstract

Determining chemical kinetics is the basis for reactor design, the determining of #activatedenergy, #energyefficiency, steam production, and integrating the reactor’s outlet stream with the inlet. The purpose of this article is to describe a sensitivity method for concentration and activated energy determination. This sensitivity method defines the #sensitivityparameter for determining the characteristics of a reaction using strong electrolytes (for example sodium hydroxide - NaOH) as reactants. The sensitivity parameter is constant throughout this specific reaction. Concentrations of #strongelectrolytes can be determined by the sensitivity method, which is based on the measurement of conductivities. This method proposes continuous concentration determination of NaOH (or strong electrolyte) as a reactant or product. This sensitivity method was tested using titration.

Objective: Evaluate the relationship between the #psychosocial variables with professional aspects and #sociodemographiccharacteristicsof workers in the furniture manufacturing and the corresponding #multidisciplinaryintervention. Methods: The study sample consisted of 146 workers in the sector of production of two industries of furniture, divided into two groups: Group 1 (study) and group 2 (control). Group 1 was formed by 80 workers and by Group 2 of 66 workers. The instrument used to evaluate Common #MentalDisorders was the Self Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20) and the Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ) was used to assess the psychosocial factors in the work environment.

Abstract

Introduction: Total #hiparthroplasties are the most frequent interventions in elderly patients. In some cases, the presence of metal residues in routine analytical serum may be an indicator of the onset of prosthetic wear, although this presence does not mean that it needs urgent replacement.

Objective: To detect the patients with joint inflammatory symptoms in their serum have ranges of toxicity in heavy metals.

Method: Review of the clinical history of patients who meet the characteristics of #jointinflammation and determination of heavy metals. Collection of blood samples for processing by #massspectrometry with induced coupling plasma, which is the reference method. Results: Differentiation in 3 groups of patients according to the trace element analyzed and its own toxicological reference limit.

Display Pertussisin Pregnant Women in East Azerbaijan of Iran, Need to Improve #Vaccination Strategies by Jalal Shayegh in BJSTR

Abstract

The present research was carried out in cocoa production areas belonging to an #Inceptisol from El Carmen canton, which is located in Ecuador, specifically in Manabí province. It was developed from November through December 2016 at 300m above the sea level, at a latitude of 0º 16’11’’S, a longitude of 79º 43’ 33’’W and an average annual precipitation of 2,700 mm. The study was aimed at evaluating chemical and#physicalproperties of the representative profiles of an Inceptisol devoted to the production of cocoa developed in different periods. In this exploratory research soil profiles were carried out in cocoa plantations having 2, 6 and 10 years, from which three samples of each horizon of 1 kg were taken. Each sample was analyzed according to the following features: pH in H2O and KCl, organic matter (%), assimilable #phosphorus and potassium measured in mg 100g-1, #Ca+2, Mg+2, K+ and Na+ in cmol(+) kg-1, T Value in cmol(+) kg-1, as well as bulk and weight density in g/ cm3.

Abstract

Introduction: Different training models can produce the same outcome in competition. As the #magnitude of change is dependent on the characteristics of the training programs, the duration of the intervention, and the gender, it is important to identify the training #stimulus and how that relates to performance. The aim was to investigate the utility of a new model to describe training adaptions and outcomes.

Methods: 12 Swimming Australia Scholarship holders were followed over a 6-week initial training period. A range of sub maximal and maximal swims were used to assess their training state in week 0 week 3 and week 7. We used a novel #tri-phasicmodel to monitor and assess athlete conditioning.

Monitoring Training Intensity; Using a Tri-Phasic Model by Emma Swanwick in BJSTR

Abstract

The kinetic characteristics of the #photocatalyticdegradation of #IndigoCarmine using #anti- bacterialagent pefloxacin were experimentally investigated with respect to the initial concentration of #pefloxacin, concentration and PH. The photo blanching is found to be first order in both indigo and pefloxacin. The apparent pseudo first order arte constant is proportional to the initial concentration of the pefloxacin, also the Indigo Carmine is PH dependent and is found to be more effective at PH 10. So Indigo Carmine can be successes fully decolorized using pefloxacinas as a photo sensitizer. The oxidation products of Indigo Carmine were identified as Isatin using UVA. The blue coloration of Indigo Carmine was converted into a colorless solution after irradiation.

Abstract

Itch is an unpleasant #cutaneoussensation associated with a desire to scratch. It is not merely as a clinical symptom of a variety of diseases but also a disease. Itch can be elicited by a variety of #endogenouspruritogen molecules and exogenous substances that activate the #membranereceptor and ion channel of neurons. Looking for and identification novel itch related receptors are essential to understand the physiological and pathological mechanism of itch. Mas-related G-protein-coupled receptors (Mrgprs) have been discovered about more than 10 year which are exclusively distributed in the peripheral nervous system and relational tissues. They play a special role in the evoked and transmission of itch.
