Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the influence of storage temperature on the maintenance of bleaching agent concentration and whether concentrations are within the recommendations of the International Standard for products for external tooth #bleaching. The samples consisted of ten commercially manufactured and four compounded tooth whitening gels. Hydrogen peroxide and #carbamide #peroxide bleachin agents at different concentrations were included on analysis. The United States Pharmacopeia and International Standard methods was used to determine the amount of peroxide, in the agents of different brands and concentrations after products storage at 3°C, 20°C and 40°C by 8 days. Analysis was repeated 8 times for each temperature. Differences between means was analyzed by ANOVA and #Tukey test at 1% of significance. In general, storage at hot temperatures decreases the peroxide concentration. None of the tested bleaching agents match the labeled peroxide concentration, especially those based on carbamide peroxide from dispensing pharmacy that has differences less than 30% from labeled. These findings indicate that the storage temperature influences the concentration of the peroxides tested.

Abstract

Among more than 40 mutations identified in the #BRAF gene, the BRAF T1799A (V600E) point mutation is the most common and accounts for more than 90% of all the mutations found in the BRAF gene. It has been found to occur frequently in #thyroid cancer. While some reports suggest the BRAF V600E mutation is associated with poor #prognosis and recurrence or iodine uptake resistance, this remains a controversial issue. The aim of study was to: 1) determine the status of BRAF mutation in differentiated thyroid cancer in Bach Mai hospital; 2) evaluate the association of the BRAF mutation with #clinicopathological parameters.Thyroid cancer shows the fastest rising incidence among all major human cancers, currently with 44,670 new cases in the United State. Differentiated thyroid cancer is the most common cancer of the endocrine system and the papillary thyroid cancer is the most common type, followed by #follicular thyroid carcinoma. In recent decades, the incidence of this type of cancer has increased in Vietnam. According to #GLOBOCAN 2012, the prevalence rate is 2.5/100000 people, mortality rate is 1.3/100000 people per year. Most thyroid cancers generally have a good prognosis after appropriate treatment including surgical procedure and #radioiodine therapy [1]. However, the recurrence rate of differentiated thyroid cancer increased up to 30%, and the cancer death rate was 8% after initial treatment at 30 years of follow-up. Studies in the world have shown that the primary cause of recurrence and metastasis in patients treated #radioiodine therapy are low absorption and poor iodine intake (Table 1) [1,4].

Abstract

Better adjacency is of significant importance to the function of teeth. The disruption of teeth adjacency would cause food #impaction, dental caries and #periodontal problems. Many cases, adjacent alveolar bone absorption result in food level impaction. Long-time food accumulation in gingival triangle zone can lead to teeth defect below the adjacent gingival. The bottom of the defect is difficult to see clearly, bringing great trouble of application of matrix system. Unreasonable placement of matrix piece will prone to appear resin overhanging, pressing the #gingival. Hence, we summarized a modified "re-bending of #Dentsply matrix piece pushing gingival"; method to restore teeth defect below the adjacent gingival efficiently. Better contact relationship of teeth is crucial to the teeth function. The purpose of #resin restoration is to re-form the adjacency of the teeth and to ensure no marginal overhang existence [1,2]. Often, the adjacent alveolar bone absorption will cause horizontal food disease below the adjacent gingival [3,4]. The big problem is that we are difficult to see clearly the bottom of defect.

Abstract

In the course of the study, we have disclosed methods for correcting and analyzing spatial data recorded in a vector format. The latter is best suited for spatial analysis of discrete objects. However, in the case when the spatial variable is represented as a field of #scalar or vector magnitudes (for example, spatial concentration distribution of concentrations of heavy metals in soils or the velocity field of groundwater movement). Convenient ways of data recording is a raster format. This approach is most often used for #phenomena of processes that are characterized by significant anisotropy. However, the characteristic feature of the inverse distance method is the fact that the interpolated value at the measured point is equal to the measured value.Figure 1 In it, the space consists of an infinite number of points and is divided into a certain number of rectangular fields called pixels, #mudflows, and a specific value is attributed [1]. Most often we own limited information about the spatial layout of the variable being studied. In general, our knowledge is reduced to a certain finite measuring points, on the basis of which conclusions are drawn about the possible distribution of quantities to the remaining points of space. Data collection at measuring points can be considered as a random series, based on which the forecasting of parameters outside the testing points is performed. This process is called interpolation of spatial data. There are many methods of interpolating data.

Abstract

The analysis of the issues #arising in the designation of the irrigation regime allows us to identify several main groups of factors affecting the election of the irrigation scheme, where the most important of them are: 1. weather factors that determine the situation on the field and the conditions of growth;2. #agrobiologic factors characterizing the properties of crops and its response to moisture conditions; 3. #soil-hydrological factors related to water regime and characteristics of #root zone soil; 4.- Economic and commercial factors determining possible damage due to moisture conditions deviations from optimal conditions and costs of irrigation regime. However, it should be recognized, it carried the results of the analysis which showed that any successful methods of prediction of moisture plants focused on #dynamics of soil moisture: maintaining soil moisture below not specified level, usually associated with the phases of the development of agricultural crops.#Irrigation of agricultural crops irrigation regime is a complex task that a variable is of great complexity owing to the large number of variables (the amount and frequency of rainfall, irrigation air temperature, soil temperature, air humidity, soil moisture, #solar ra-diation, the reaction of plants to watering, etc.) and has a significant impact on the size and quality of the crop and on logistical costs incl.

Abstract

The twenty first century human beings face innumerable health and environmental issues due to #anthropogenic activities such as destruction of nature in the name of scientific development, industrialization and introduction of #xenobiotic components without minding the future. Nature has its own ways to maintain sustainability without affecting flora and fauna. One such wonder of nature is the periplasmic predatory bacterium that feeds on other bacteria, #Bdellovibrio, the world's smallest hunters (0.2-0.5^m wide and 0.5 -2.5^m long) that support environment, agriculture, food processing and control human ailments. The antibiotic resistance, medicine's most pressing and emerging problem has forced the scientists to look for alternative treatments to combat bacterial infections. This global issue can be overcome by one of the alternative treatment of using predatory bacteria as "#living antibiotics” replacing the use of conventional antibiotics. Recent findings indicate an intricate interplay between the predatory bacteria and the prey with reciprocal effects acting as ecological balancers [1]. Stolp and Starr identified Bdellovibrio #bacteriovorus, the gram negative, highly motile organism with single sheathed polar flagella and described as predatory, ectoparasitic and bacteriolytic [2].

Abstract

In the fields of cell biology, such as biomolecular chemistry and #genomics, microbeads play an important role as a powerful analysis tool. To realize above applications, manipulation of size selection of #microbeads is required. Therefore, in this paper we summarized newest manipulation methods for size selection of microbeads and their applications. We believe our paper offers specific reference for those researchers intend to use microbeads in #biological field.Currently, due to their availability in different aspects [1-4] microbeads are widely used for a variety of different laboratory procedures and protocols. Microbeads technology has great effect on biological assay in molecular and genomic researches [5,6], for example, #bar-coded (encoded) microbeads have been used in bead- based arrays [7]. Also, microbeads are cost saving and have excellent mechanical and thermal stability. Microbeads can be coated with an assay specific reagent, thereby facilitating high-throughput affinity- based capturing and detection of target biological #molecules from a small sample volume [8-10].

Abstract

Nickel is a naturally occurring heavy metal in the environment, and one of the harmful compounds found in tobacco, as it accumulates in the plant #Nicotina tabacum. It is also considered a carcinogen in humans. Its concentrations in the body can undergo many variations and its determination in body fluids can be an important way to monitor exposure to this carcinogen. This paper aimed to analyze salivary and blood nickel concentrations in smokers and nonsmokers. Salivary/blood concentrations of 23 individuals were determined by #graphite furnace atomic absorption spectroscopy. We found higher nickel salivary concentration in non-smokers (8.28 μg.L-1 versus 4.23μg.L-1), While blood concentration was greater in smokers (2.22μg.L-1 versus 1.02μg.L-1) (p<0.05, #Wilcoxon signed-rank test).Salivary concentration was 3.5 times higher in saliva than in blood, with no statistical correlation between the samples. Although #saliva is considered a good biological matrix, easy to collect/store, allowing the detection of nickel with the same technique already used for blood, it was not a suitable substrate for estimating the concentration of #nickel in the blood. In addition, unexpectedly, greater amounts of nickel were found in the saliva of nonsmoking individuals possibly resulting from nickel sources other than smoking.

Abstract

The use of #cocaine exacerbates kidney disease, and African Americans are more likely to use cocaine. This study explored the variety of medical problems African American #diabetic kidney patients experience
    a) If they use cocaine,
    b) If they use both cocaine and tobacco, and
    c) Further explores how these medical problems are associated with high systolic and diastolic blood pressures (SBP and DBP).
Data was procured from #Cerner HealthFacts, and an #apriori machine learning technique was used. This study found that cocaine users' most frequently co-occurring issue is high SBP followed by cough and high #prothrombin. While coughing, SBP and respiratory problems become prominent issues with the use of both cocaine and tobacco. Lastly, the impact of SBP and SDP are varied; elevated SBP is highly associated with low white blood cell and high BNP, while DBP is highly correlated with being overweight, respiratory problems and shortness of breath.Kidney diseases are one of the most exemplary cases of health disparities [1]. While high blood pressure and diabetes are partially responsible for this #disparity [1], higher rates of cocaine and tobacco usage among African Americans have also driven such disparity [24].

Abstract

Background: A #plethora of evidence suggest pathways independent of contamination may produce microbial growth and infections.
Objective: To prove that fetal cells may produce microbes.
Methods: We searched the keywords fetal infections in Google scholar and pub med for articles and their references published in English from 2000 to 2017. We then applied the probability theory to calculate the probability of pathways independent of #contamination to produce fetal infections.
Results: Fetal cells may produce infections. The probability of certainty of this observation is 99.9998%.
Conclusion: Fetal cells may produce infections.#Unicellular organisms (prokaryota) including bacteria transformed from lifeless matter 3.5 billion years ago [1-5]. Organic compounds were produced by artificial methods [6]. Microorganisms transform to other microorganisms [7]. Human cells transform to different cells [8,9]. A lifeless protein transforms to an infectious prion [10]. All of the above data suggest pathways independent of contamination may produce microbes.
The probability of a #physically possible observation to be correct exponentially increases by each supporting evidence and can be expressed as an equation: C= 100-1/2n ("C "representing the percent probability of certainty and "n "representing the number of diverse evidence consistent with the observation).

Abstract

When abnormally high levels of #lipids (fatty substances) are found in the blood, this condition is known as #hyperlipidemia. Obesity is also related to this disorder. #Hypolipidemic drugs are extensively used to prevent such disorders, but these drugs have other adverse effects. In India about 150 medicinal plants have been used as herbal drugs against these disorders. This review focused on some medicinal plants which have lipid lowering activities. Obesity is one of the most common health problems and this disorder is associated with abnormal levels of blood lipids (hyperlipidemia) and lipoproteins (#hyperlipoproteinemia). In hyperlipidemic conditions, the levels of lipids and cholesterol elevated in the blood and it is a symptom of different disorders of lipoprotein metabolism [1]. Hyperlipidemia is a condition of excess fatty substances called lipids, largely cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. The extra amount of lipid circulates in blood attached to the protein and this condition is known as hyperlipoptoteinemia. During the circulation the #fatty substances remain dissolved [2]. It is a disorder of lipid metabolism caused by elevation of #plasma concentrations of the various lipid and #lipoprotein fraction, which are the key risks factors for cardio vascular disease (CVD). It also increases the cholesterol esters, phospholipids or triglycerides. Predisposition to coronary, cerebrovascular and peripheral vascular arterial diseases are the most common reason of death in developing and developed nations and they are mostly due to abnormalities in plasma lipids [3].

Abstract

The #treatment for pain before arriving the diagnosis in patients with acute abdominal pain still remains controversial. Many recent studies have showed that the treatment of pain does not negatively influence either the diagnosis or subsequent treatment of these patients; however, current practice patterns continue to favour withholding pain medication prior to #diagnosis and #surgical treatment decision [1]. Pain is a complex phenomenon with various causes and issues associated with its incidences. This complexity is especially true for those who have chronic pain. In light of the #multifactorial nature of this problem, the treatment plan has to be individualized for each patient [2]. Any doctor doing practice in emergency medicine should be skilled in the assessment of #abdominal pain and related diseases. Although a common presentation, abdominal pain must be approached in a serious manner, as it is often a symptom of serious disease and misdiagnosis may occur.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to describe the experiences of the #mobile injection team (MTI) for #multidrug resistant- tuberculosis with an aim of identifying the challenges facing the team and the institution providing the service. Giorgi's essential #phenomenological research method was conducted. Convenience census sampling was used as all the seven members of the MIT were included. The inclusion criteria were that at least six months' working experience with MDR-TB patients in a MIT at Ugu District. And be an enrolled nurse registered with SANC, and/or be a TB assistant, be willing to participate in the study and be located at the #decentralised or satellite site. Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews with the participants during November to December 2014 at both the decentralised and satellite hospitals and were analysed using Giorgi's method of data analysis. The research findings revealed four broad themes (the perceptions held by the team, challenges, available support and needs to promote the service) and 73 sub-themes. The findings of the study indicated that the MIT experiences many challenges in the community and need to be supported in order to provide quality care to the patients.

Abstract

Aim: The aim of this stud was to present a case with unusual #Corynebacterium infection with recurrent perm catheter infection
Back Ground: Corynebacterium urealyticum (Corynebacterium CDC group #D2 bacterium) is an aerobic, #catalase-positive, gram positive bacillus with the typical appearance of diphtheroids that is unable to acidify carbohydrate, has strong #urease activity, and is resistant to multiple antibiotics. It has been associated mainly with infections of the urinary tract. The isolation of this organism in cases of other infection is highly unusual.
Case Description: A 72-year-old female perm catheter infection due to a case of C. urealyticum that had developed recurrent spiking fever while undergoing #hemodialysis through the subclavian catheter site. The final wound and blood cultures yielded C. urealyticum, which was confirmed to be a catheter-related bloodstream infection.
Conclusion: Appropriate antibiotic therapy and immediately removal of perm catheter is of paramount importance in C. urealyticum catheter infection. Clinical significance: persistent perm site redness and unknown origin infection should always put in perm catheter infection in mind.

Abstract

The experimental work carried out by us in the objects of study in Shamakhi, the Tartar, Zagatala, Guba and Ganja on irrigation of #soybean, sugar beet, maize and tobacco, orchards and a vineyard can give an estimated average the intensity of the rain (mm/min) under irrigation norms 300-500m3/HA, depending on the soil types: Sandy-0.3-0.4, light loamy-0.2-0.3, middle and heavy loam-0.1-0.2. Studies have shown that the wide production verification of this irrigation technology, taking into account the recommended intensity of rain, will clarify the #technical-economic indicators 'and conditions for the use of #micro-irrigation. As a result of the adjustment of irrigation regime, it was found that under irrigation norms 300-420m3/ha of soil soaking on insignificant depth (20-30, sometimes 40cm). Low speed absorption of topsoil and large biases have provided significant surface relief (30%), increasing from irrigation to glaze. soil moisture Increase was only 100-300m3/ha. The main requirement for artificial sprinkling is the creation of rain with an intensity not exceeding the speed of #absorption of water. Various factors significantly affect both the choice of method of irrigation, and irrigation equipment. One and the same factor may be significant in one way and not have the special meaning otherwise. Despite this, all of these factors and conditions are closely interacting with each other. At the site in the village of Malham Shamakha district of the Azerbaijani Republic conducted a study micro-sprinkling irrigation system on medium and large slopes in deep groundwater level.

Abstract

As mobility is significantly correlated with autonomy and #quality of life, a clear majority of the developed approaches and devices dedicated to visually impaired individuals attempts to augment or support orientation and #mobility abilities and maximize independence and safety. Therefore, various methods and technical solutions have been proposed for generating a representation of the visual scene and transmitting this information to the user. As different visual impairments can be distinguished, from congenital blindness to low vision, dedicated solutions have been put forward to accommodate these different needs and abilities. These solutions may be used universally or take advantage of the specificity of the visual impairment (e.g. low vision, late blindness). Through the presentation of #sensory supplementation, technical aids and #visual neuro-prostheses studies, we will explore some of the approaches and technical solutions that have been proposed or are still in development. Additionally, we will discuss the benefits of providing specialized information dedicated to mobility as opposed to a #general-purpose representation.

Abstract

Although a well-studied joint disease in dogs, #hip dysplasia (HD) in cats is a relatively neglected condition. There remains some controversy as to the clinical manifestations and incidence of hip dysplasia in domestic cats. The clinical manifestations in cats differ from those in dogs - the literature indicates that the main clinical signs are reluctance/ difficulty jumping. There is, therefore, great interest in identification of clinical signs to allow early diagnosis and treatment to avoid chronic problems. As in dogs, definitive diagnosis in cats is by #radiographic examination. The aim of this study was to evaluate the incidence of hip dysplasia in adult cats using radiographic examination and to correlate radiographic findings with Norberg Angle. Eighty - six cats over one year old were evaluated in which the Norberg angle, articular and morphological alterations were evaluated. Thirty-five (35/86) cats showed some sign of discomfort during physical examination. Nine owners (9/56) of the #incongruent cats reported some behavioral changes during #anamnesis. The results of this study suggest that there is a high incidence of feline hip dysplasia in this study and the Norberg Angle should be used in conjunction with other findings in the diagnosis of hip dysplasia.

Abstract

To prevent earlier AD, the olfactory test could be used as a non-invasive and non-expensive tool. To do so we propose to bring together professional of the recommendations and use them to create a specific tool. The aging of the population is associated with an increase in people with #Alzheimer's disease (AD) which causes the cost of care in this population to be more expensive. To rise the opportunity to prevent or delay the AD, markers of early detection are essential. All studies are unanimous and validate the identification of odors as a #biomarker of the #preclinic stage in AD [1-2]. #Olfactive disease is a precursor to the transformation of mild cognitive impairment to AD [3] and is as sensitive as other biological biomarkers [4]. In practice there are still very few practitioners who use olfactory test on early stage. In clinical research the literature reviews point to a high variability in the tools used: either by their connotation too culturally marked, or because the choice of odors can de discuss, or the specificity of the tool is too low [5]. There is a real lack of consensus that is detrimental to the common use. To improved public health and reduce the overall cost of this disease and allow early detection, it is necessary to act as soon as possible to react before
