VEGF-Targeting Strategies against #Diabetic #Nephropathy: Obsolete or Still Promising? by Katsuyuki Tanabe in BJSTR

Abstract

#Vascularendothelial growth factor (VEGF)-A is well known to be involved in the #pathogenesis of #diabetic #nephropathy. Although it may be a promising therapeutic target, recent evidence that anti-VEGF therapy induces renal #thromboticmicro-angiopathy has tempered interest in its use. We discuss the necessary conditions for future VEGF-targeting therapy against diabetic nephropathy.
