Abstract

Background: The growth of #motorization of the population is accompanied by an increase in the number of environmental pollutants. In this study, the impact on public health risk indicators of not only gaseous but also #dust components entering the environment during the operation of vehicles was studied.
Methods: A #quantitative assessment of the impact of the process of operation of the road-car complex (DAC) of different intensity on air pollution. Then we determined the value of the indicator of risk to public health at different intensity of air pollution by products of operation of the DAC. The dependence of the risk to public health on the distance to roads with different traffic intensity was determined.
Results: The growth of motorization of the population has led to the formation of a high level of air pollution in #megacities 'during the combustion of fuel, destruction of the road surface, parts of the braking system and tires of the car. Solid dust particles in atmospheric air samples are 70 % represented by #aluminosilicates, which have a fibro genic effect, contain heavy metal compounds and substances with a pronounced carcinogenic effect (Benz-(a)-pyrene, di Benz- (a, h)-anthracene

Abstract

Objective: Since magnetic resonance #imaging (MRI) became central in the diagnosis and follow-up of Multiple Sclerosis (MS), evoked potentials (EP) studies appear to have lost their value, despite their ability to indicate the real-time status of the #physiological system, and the nature of the lesion. In this study, we investigated the diagnostic utility of EPs and their correlation with MRI findings in our patients who were evaluated for suspected MS.
Materials and Methods: In this study, the medical records at first admission of 100 patients who were evaluated for suspected MS were analyzed retrospectively. The correlations of EPs with clinical and MRI findings were analyzed.
Results: The VEP test was more sensitive than orbital MRI in detecting optic nerve involvement. tSEP agreed with 81% of the MRI findings and mSEP with 55%. On the other hand, in patients with normal spinal MRI, mSEP and tSEP indicated functional impairment in 44% and 67% of the cases, respectively. Although MRI seems to be more useful in detecting brainstem abnormalities, only the BAEP study revealed subclinical involvement in 12% of the patients. Again, VEP indicated #subclinical involvement in 18% and mSEP in 29% of the cases.

Abstract

#Lipases are produced extracellular by the bacterial strain #Bacillus subtilis in submerged state fermentation was purified from the cell free culture broth by ammonium sulphate precipitation at 70% saturation followed by purification solvent precipitation by acetone and ethanol. DS- PAGE analysis indicated that the enzymes #protein molecular mass was 19.4 kDa. The enzyme activity was maximum growth 72 hours of incubation time, with an activity (0.95U/ml). Lipase activity was maximal at 1% concentration of the substrate. Olive oil produced (32.67) units of lipase was the best induces for lipase production enzyme activity. The optimum PH 8 for the activity of lipase. Lipase is produced by various #microbes, bacteria, fungi, yeast, mammals and plants in large amounts. Lipase have been used extensively is oleo chemical industry and dairy industry [1] and to produce the structural triglycerides [2]. #Extracellular lipase produced by microorganisms is being investigated for its potential application in various industrial processes like detergents, oils, fatty acids and diary coupled with #enormous therapeutic uses [3].

Abstract

#Management of solid waste all over the world is one of the most important priorities to protecting communities' health, as well as, the urban environment. So, improper solid waste management, causes serious health hazard, spreading of disease, #injuries, air and water pollution. This Paper is an attempt to assess the efficiency of solid waste management in Tayba Al Hasanab landfill and to highlight health and #environmental impacts expected from inefficient solid waste management in the study area. This study has adopted descriptive methods. Primary data were collected through frequent field visits, photos documentation, personal observations and interviewing sites head manager. While Secondary data were collected through reviewing the available literature. Inefficient solid waste management can attributed to irrelevant location of this #dumping site. This has resulted in nuisance and health hazards for the people living nearby. However, inefficient solid wastes are resulted from, inaccessible road during the rainy season has enforced the vehicle's drivers to dump their wastes outside the landfill, poor funding, steady increase in the generated wastes due to vast population growth and poor #community awareness. Moreover, workers are not wear personal protective equipment.

Abstract

A #strain gauge device has been developed that allows determining the change in the distance between the spokes of an external fixation device emerging from opposing bone fragments when the axial load on the injured limb is gradually increased in steps of 10 kgf (Figure 1). At the same time, the control of stiffness of fixation of fragments can be carried out throughout the period of fixation of bone fragments. Strain gauge and clamp to determine changes in the distance between the spokes of the #Ilizarov apparatus. Surveyed 2 groups of patients with closed #diaphyseal fractures of the bones of the leg, treated according to the method of AI Ilizarov. Patients of the 1st group (156 patients aged from 17 to 63 years old were treated in the hospital of the clinic. The 2nd group included their peers (64 people, 20-76 years old) with the same #pathology, who passed after a period of inpatient treatment for 10-14 days further treatment on an outpatient basis. Patients of the 3rd group (38 patients) who received outpatient treatment had diaphyseal fractures of the humerus.

Abstract

Non-coding RNAs have retained a prominent role in regulating gene expression. They are RNA species that are not transcribed but functional participate in almost every aspect of cellular function. One of the triggers of their discovery was the human #genome project. The number of genes found in the human genome fluctuated during the analyses due to the abundant non-coding RNAs that were difficult to be judged as a gene or not. These non-coding RNAs are consisted of: #microRNAs (mi-RNAs) that were found as RNAs transcribed form ultra-conserved regions; and other evolutionary conserved ones such as circular RNAs (circ-RNAs) and long non-coding RNAs (lnc-RNAs), as well as #PIWI-interacting RNAs, small nucleolar RNAs, transcribed ultra conserved regions, and large intergenic non-coding RNAs. The amount of these functional non-coding RNAs have been increasing in a nearly exponential manner since their discoveries and have been listed up to more than half of the transcribed RNAs in the #human cell. This review will focus on non-coding RNAs related with genes important for the function of the adrenal cortex.

Abstract

#Multidrug resistant bacteria are marching and winning. The entire human race is at risk and new, effective antibiotics are needed for survival. Several notable routines to develop novel antibiotics are briefly compared here and possible new strategies are proposed. Key words include but not limited to nanotechnology, metal #nanoparticles, natural product, medicinal plants, folk medicine, #ethnopharmacology, computer-based screening, synergistic antibacterial activity, #genomics, peptides, inhibitor, and structure-based virtual screening.Threat from drug-resistant bacteria increases steadily and globally. As reported in 2016, over 700,000 people die, and millions suffer from drug-resistant pathogens each year. It is expected that 10 million people could be killed a year by 2050, based on the current rate of antibiotic approvals [1]. There are two main causes for the lack of effective, new #antibiotics. First, there has been no new antibiotics developed since 1980s. Most pharmaceutical companies dropped their program for antibiotic development after the peak of antibiotic discovery going back to 1940s [2].

Abstract

Fetal lung is one of the organs of interest for researchers since a long time. Though, detailed #morphometric studies about adult lung weight are there in the literature but weight of lungs at different stages in the foetal period is far less available. Hence, the present study attempted to find out the relationship between the foetal lungs in relation with its development in different gestational weeks. The study was carried out on 40 human fetuses of known gestational age in the Department of Anatomy, Manipal College of #Medical Sciences, Pokhara, Nepal. Ethical approval was granted by the Institutional Review Committee (IRC), MCOMS, Pokhara. The weight of the fetuses and fetal lung was measured in grams on digital weighing machine. The mean values of all parameters by #gestational age was calculated and analyzed. The data was represented graphically by using appropriate statistical analysis. In the present study the body weight of #fetuses showed gradual increase from 10th week to 38th weeks of gestation.
