Abstract

#Medicinal plants include plant species with medicinal properties, which in some cases are used for specific purposes of healing or prevention. Thus, #ethnobotanica is the rescue of this traditional knowledge, related to the use of this flora as a resource. The objective of this article was to carry out a bibliographic review, adopting documentary research as a criterion based on articles published in renowned national and international journals specializing in the #ethnobotanical aspects of medicinal plants reported in the state of Goiás. Most interviewees responded to use plants for for medicinal purposes, with women being the majority. In addition, leaves are the most used parts for different diseases. The use of medicinal plants is a widely used practice among residents of the cities (#Goianésia and Ipameri, Goiás). In general, the species indicated by the inhabitants in the #ethnobotanical survey demonstrated the potential for pharmaceutical use, since they presented some compounds known to be important.

Abstract

Children with DCD have difficulty in organizing and sequencing of motor events. Instead of having #higher IQ of greater than 70% these children face difficulties in reading and writing. All other activities are daily living is a biggest challenge for these children to be done without assistance from their #caregivers. Without proper evaluation of these children as “DCD”, they have been diagnosed as a continuum of #cerebral palsy and all the caregivers of children with DCD waste their time and money on the inappropriate #diagnosis and #treatment interventions.

Challenges in The Assessment of Children with Developmental Coordination Disorder (Dcd) by Monisha R in BJSTR

Abstract

This #research targeted to investigate the role of emotion in #Chinese Social Transmission through an empirical study. Using a unique data set of the Southern Weekly (one of the most famous political media in China) articles published over an 87-days period, we tried to explore the influence of specific emotional attributes on viral forwarding of online content. The results indicate that, although positive emotions generally promote communication, the relationship between emotion and social transmission is more complex than valence alone. Among the 28 emotions common to all Chinese, only 2 emotions (including positive admiration and negative hate/dislike) significantly inhibited transmission. Using special model like the #zero-inflated negative binomial (ZINB) regression, the specific emotion (i.e., hate/dislike) can help to distinguish different generating processes for zero-repost articles which are difficult to inform. Taking together, these findings shed light on emotions can predict the #virus transmission characteristics of online content under the information control environment.

The Viral Impact of Emotion on Social Transmission Under Control Context by Guiping Zhang in BJSTR

Abstract

The #global warming causes the global climate changes, and with this consequence, Kreft (2015) listed Pakistan on number-eight of the most affected ten-countries from 1995-2014 in the world [1,2] wrap up on the basis of observed changes in global aridity from 1923-2010 and suggested severe and widespread droughts in the next 30-90 years due to low rainfall and/or increased evaporation with global and regional variations in #ENSO (El Niño–Southern Oscillation) by #tropical sea surface temperature (SST) and unforced natural variations. In Pakistan, the adverse events (drought and flood) occur mainly due to the deficit or excess of rains coming from southwest monsoons, which are associated with La-Nina and El-Nino events. Pakistan lies in the south Asian region, where the reliance on ground data is not sufficient for #drought monitoring. This is due to the lack of reliable and complete data and proper information network systems, and the lower availability of weather-stations in the region.

Abstract

#Hepes Zoster Ophthalmicus (HZO) does not a fatal cause but a blind cause as well as prolonged pain lead to disturbance and difficulty in treatment for patients and may be a marker for AIDS particularly in young persons. Zona Glaucoma or #Zona Pigment Glaucoma (ZPG) commonly caused by uveitis with or without blockage pupil or obstructed trabecular meshwork. Accumulation of macrophages in severe inflammation over a short period of time may acutely obstruct the meshwork and result in transient elevation of intraocular pressure in association with exercise of dilation of pupil. In this paper three typical cases of ZPG were treated. The first was young patient with HIV (+), #trabeculectomy was done; the second and third cases were elderly patient HIV (-), without glaucoma surgery.

Abstract

#Autotaxin (ATX) is a secreted enzyme which #hydrolyzes lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) to #lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) and #choline. The ATX-LPA axis has attracted increasing interest recently for both ATX and LPA are involved in various pathological conditions such as tumor progression and metastasis, fibrotic diseases, arthritis, autoimmune diseases and obesity. Thus, great efforts have been devoted in identifying synthetic ATX inhibitors as new agents for treating various diseases including cancer and #fibrotic diseases. Herein, this mini review mainly focused on the binding modes of the reported #ATX inhibitors and their indications correspondingly.

The Classified Progression in Binding Modes of Autotaxin (Atx) Inhibitors by Xin Zhai in BJSTR

Abstract

#Maize (Zea mays), which is the third most important cereal crop of the world, is an important dual purpose crop used in human diet and animal feed. The experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of weeds on the growth and yield of maize, and to determine the best time and frequency of weeding to get an optimum yield. The experiment was conducted at Teaching and Research Farm of The College of Education, #Lanlate in the cropping season of 2016. There were four treatments replicated four times to make the total number of plot to be sixteen (16). The treatments are; No weeding, weeding after 2, 3 and 4 weeks. It was shown that if the first weeding is done between 3weeks and 2weeks after planting the #optimum yield will be obtained. When the first weeding is allowed to reach 4weeks before it is done there is a drastically reduction in the #crop. A crop failure with absolutely low yield was obtained in a field where weeding was not done at all.

Abstract

#Sternal tuberculosis is a form of #osteoarticular tuberculosis. It remains a rare localization, whose diagnosis is based on bacteriological and #anatomopathological samples. The treatment is medical and surgical, and the prognosis is better with the antibacillary treatment. We report a case of sternal tuberculosis in an 18-year-old girl with no pathological history who presented with a #parasternal right swelling and whose Bacteriological samples was favorable for tuberculosis according to GeneXpert test and the histological analysis revealed a #granulomatous lesion without #caseous necrosis.

Isolated Tuberculosis of The Sternum Detected with GeneXpert: A Case in an Adult Girl by H Harmouchi Hicham in BJSTR

Abstract

Three or more years fallow may not replenish enough for optimum quality of #Dioscorea (food cultivars) tubers. This study indicated this because Calcium and Nitrogen of values 0.47cmol kg^-1 and 0.2% respectively were still below the critical determined for #optimum yam production (South West Nigeria) even after three years fallow followed by two consecutive years of calcium nitrate fertilization to Dioscorea on the field plot used in this study. The experiment was a 3 by 3 factorial, arranged in RCBD and 3 replicates. #Ca (NO₃)₂ soil amendment at 0, 1, 2kg ha^-1 of calcium was the main plot treatment applied at 3 MAP (months after planting) and one foliar spray only at the rates 0, 100 and 500mg l^-1 Ca (NO₃)₂ applied at 5 MAP. Ca (NO₃)₂ soil amendment (1 and 2kg ha^-1) and 100mg l^-1 Ca (NO₃)₂ foliar spray all promoted more #leaf phytoanticipins namely flavonoid, lignin and tannin over the control.

Abstract

#Erythema nodosum migrans was a challenging diagnosis in a 91-year-old woman. The disorder presented features of cutaneous and deep subcutaneous inflammation with a recurrent and migratory course. The extensive lesions were unresponsive to antibiotics as well as topical and #systemic corticosteroid treatment. Awareness to this rare and confusing condition might allow for earlier diagnosis and treatment. Cellulitis is an acute spreading infection of the skin that also involves the #subcutaneous tissues. Cellulitis and erysipelas are ‘nonculturable’ skin infections. Most cases of cellulitis are caused by #beta-hemolytic streptococci. Patients typically develop high fever, chills, headache, vomiting and general symptoms within 48 hours of infection.

Abstract

Complete transposition of the great #arteries (d-TGA) accounting for 5 % of all congenital heart disease (CHD) is one of the most common cyanotic CHDs. Advances in #congenitalcardiology and surgery improve the prognosis in patients with TGA, nowadays women who survived the disease are entering the child bearing ages. Although, arterial switch operation has been becoming the standard treatment for TGA, #atrial switch operation (ASO) was performed till past decades. Right ventricle (RV) becomes to be in charge of systemic circulation in patients with ASO. RV cannot sustain the demands of the systemic circulation and gradually decrease the function. Recently, we have experienced a pregnancy in a patient with congenital TGA treated with ASO.

Abstract

#Depression and substance abuse has on the increase all over the world. The poor and the rich are also involved in this dangerous habit that has impact not only on reproductive health but also has an impact on family, society, increase in health care expense and increased #criminal activity. Health care providers have more concerned with treating the victims and less concerned on its prevention. Pregnant women bear a greater brunt and there has adverse pregnancy outcome. Low birth weight, #preterm labour, increased in miscarriage and raised perinatal mortality has some of the adverse effects. Children of such parents have more likely to inherit this bad trait. Children living in abusive homes where drugs and alcohol abuse occur simultaneously has often deprived of more than just the basics of food and shelter. Depression reported, “Any act on the part of the husband, partner or family which causes physical, mental, social or psychological trauma to the woman and prevents her from developing her personality.” Reason for the increase in depression violence can accepted; urbanization, #industrialization, growth of urban slums, co-education and co-working in offices and factories, modern movies, television, obscene and #pornographic literature and decreasing religious restrictions.

Redefining the Role of Cox-2 in Human and #CanineMalignancies by Naresh Kumar Sood in BJSTR

Abstract

Background:#In vitro-transcribed messenger RNA (ivt mRNA) is a safe #genetic vector that can be used for vaccination and gene therapy. We investigated the impact of the 3’ untranslated region (UTR) and of modified nucleotides on the functionality of ivt mRNA in vitro as well as in vivo. We confirmed that a 3’ UTR consisting of a tandem repeat of beta-globin 3’ UTR enhances the expression of ivt mRNA in non-transformed cells in vitro and in liver in vivo. In addition, we compared ivt mRNA made with the four canonical bases (“ACGU”), with uridine replaced by #N1-methyl pseudouridine (“ACGPseudo”) or with both uridine and cytidine replaced by N1-methyl pseudouridine and 5-methylcytidine, respectively (“A5mCGPseudo”). We report that the “ACGU” and “ACGPseudo” ivt mRNA have superior functionality in #tumour cells. However, in immune cells and in vivo, the “ACGPseudo” composition allows better expression of the synthetic mRNA. The additional substitution of cytidine with 5-methylcytidine in “A5mCGPseudo” ivt mRNA is deleterious for expression.

Optimizing the Functionality of in vitro-Transcribed mRNA by Steve Pascolo in BJSTR

Abstract

Design and application of a #vaccine for #syphilis is proposed. Syphilis, once a widespread and crippling disease, has decreased in prevalence and significance due to public health education and the use of #penicillin, which is extremely effective in curing the disease. This decline has reduced the urgency for a vaccine for syphilis. However, in recent years the incidence of syphilis has been increasing. A persistent reservoir remains in highly impacted groups such as sex workers and men who have sex with men. It is proposed that the critical application of a vaccine for syphilis to these groups could eventually eliminate this disease. Evidence is presented that the most effective immune response to syphilis infection is delayed type #hypersensitivity (DTH). In this review a design for a vaccine for syphilis directed to the induction of DTH is described.

A Vaccine for #Syphilis by Stewart Sell in BJSTR

Abstract

An #immunoenzymatic method for in situ detection or localization of #abscisic acid (ABA) in cucumber leaves were developed and optimized. Samples were sliced by frozen embedding and fixed in 2% EDC（1-(3-Dimethylaminutesopropyl)-3-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride） stationary liquid (3% paraformaldehyde, 0.5% #glutaraldehyde, 10mmol/LPBS (phosphate buffer saline, pH 7.0) and in 20% sucrose for 1h. The samples were then treated in 0.1% #trypsin for 5 minutes at 37 ℃. Sample slices made by this method kept high integrity, the vein cells arranged in order, peripheral cell wall was undamaged and the tissue keep the most strong staining.

State Department evacuates a number of Americans from the U.S. consulate in Guangzhou, China after they experienced unexplained health issues. A group of U.S. diplomats stationed in China have been brought back to the states after being inflicted by a mystery illness that reportedly resembles the #brain injuries previously suffered by staff in Cuba. #Heather Nauert, a State Department spokeswoman, said in a statement that the individuals from the U.S. office in Guangzhou were returned home for further evaluation. It was unclear if there was any connection to last year’s situation in Cuba where 24 U.S. government employees experienced a range of ailments after hearing an unusual sound.

Secret Sonic Weapons’ War Lead to #Carcinogenesis by Robert Skopec in BJSTR

Abstract

Background: #Primary cardiac tumors (PCT) in children are #rare disorders. Prenatal diagnosis is feasible. Most of them have favorable prognosis, but some still prove fatal.Objective: To define clinical outcome of benign PCT and the possible impact of prenatal diagnosis.

Methods: 14 cases were collected between December 2005 and August 201. We included patients with pre and #postnatal diagnosis, medically and surgically managed. Pre and postnatal examinations, surgical procedures, clinical information before and after surgery, #histological diagnoses were reviewed.

Results: Seventy-two percent of PCT were detected prenatally. Median follow-up time was 3,13 years. In the medical managed group, one had complete spontaneous regression, 3 had spontaneous reduction, 2 underwent efficacious Enviroximes treatment and one was lost to follow-up. 46% of cases needed surgery. In two infants, #perioperative support with V-A ECMO and iNO was necessary. Complete excision of the mass was possible in 5 cases. Rate of hospital death was 20%. All but one late survivors were symptom-free at last clinical assessment. Clinical relevant recurrence of mixoma occurred in one case.

Clinical Outcome of Benign Cardiac Tumors in Infants During A 13 Years’ Experience: Impact of Prenatal Diagnosis by Giovanni Battista Luciani in BJSTR

Abstract

To determine the effect of weekly #physical activity on #biological age (BA) parameters, we conducted a study among 265 first-year female students who were divided into the experimental (EG, n=135) and control (CG, n=130) groups. It was established that if at the end of the experiment the BA parameters of the CG girls did not differ significantly from the average data of the university (p>0.05), then there was a statistically significant decrease in the BA parameters of the EG girls. This was confirmed by #statistical probability (p<0.01), which suggests the dependence of #biological age parameters on the extent of weekly physical activity.
