Abstract

Local and non-local integral conservation laws in the #Riemann-Cartan spaces are given. Hypothesis of the friedmons as dark matter particles is proposed. The mass of #friedmon is near 109GeV and the #symmetrygroup is dual for SU(2)one. Gravitational field as some gauge field is a connection. The metric of the expanding Universe is near to de Sitter one. The Casmir operators in this case contain the combination of the spin and mass or #spin-massas total parameter with physical significance due to the mixing of the spin-mass components by action of the de Sitter group SO(1,4) transformations [1].For example in the theory of super gravity with two complex #Grassmanianvalues physical significance have eight real coordinates only (or four complex ones-with imaginary time and two space null coordinates) due to its mixing by the expanded Poincare group transformations.

Abstract

To report the case of a patient with uremia who presented left femoral neck fractures due to #osteoporosis caused by #renalosteodystrophy. The special patient such as #uremia with femoral neck fracture need a criterion for perioperative management and type of surgery. It is feasible to accept the total #hiparthroplasty (THA) or #hemiarthroplasty (HHA) for the femoral neck fracture patient [1]. Indeed, this therapeutic method has been also used for the particular patient with the sickle cell, Jehovah’s witness patients [2,3].

This species may also be used for preparation of #choleravaccine and for elucidation of the cause of many #humandiseases.

Abstract


Attention deficit #hyperactivitydisorder (ADHD) and #autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are classified as #neurodevelopmentaldisorders by DSM-5. ADHD is characterized by the behavioral symptoms including inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity and also by moderate-to-severe academic and social impairment. In addition, ASD is characterized by impaired social interaction, impaired verbal communication, and repetitive behaviors. Brain #monoamines and their neuroactive metabolites are thought to play key roles in neurodevelopmental pathology, but the specifics are still unknown. Here we provide the first evidence of a correlation between inattention, higher levels of 3-methoxy-4- #hydroxyphenylglycol (MHPG), and lower levels of #homovanillicacid (HVA); between hyperactivity/impulsivity, higher levels of HVA, and lower levels of MHPG; and between autistic symptoms, higher levels of MHPG, and lower levels of 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA).

Abstract


The #lipopolysaccharide (LPS) localized in the outer membrane is the predominant molecule on the cell surface of #Legionellapneumophila bacteria which contributes to the cell surface properties in an exceptionally important way. The chemical structure of L. pneumophila LPS is different from that of the #endotoxins of other Gram-negative bacteria, despite the similar structure. Due to its complex structure and function as well as #immunochemical and #antigen variability, the L. pneumophila LPS plays an important role in the interaction with the #hostcell.

Abstract

#Helicobacterpylori is a bacterium broadly distributed in the world, colonizing nearly 50% of the human population. Its niche is the human stomach, where it is able to generate several gastric #pathologies. A numbers of studies have detected #Candidasp. together with H. pylori in the stomach, condition which could increase the severity of the gastric damage. Nevertheless, the association between these two #microorganisms is closer because it has been reported that H. pylori can be found active within vacuoles of yeasts belonging to genus Candida. This association is present in yeasts isolated from diverse sources including foods as well as human bodies, such as mouth and #vagina of pregnant women, suggesting the presence of a novel mechanism of protection and a means of transportation which facilitates H. pylori transmission.

Abstract

Kunu zaki is a popular indigenous cereal based #non-alcoholicbeverage widely consumed, especially in the Northern Nigeria. Composite samples randomly collected were screened for pH, titratable and microbiological characteristics using standard methods. Antibiotics susceptibility pattern of #pathogenicbacteria was also determined using Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method. The pH was slightly acidic to neutral (6.83-7.13), while titratable acidity was directly proportional to incubation time (mean value, 0.50%-1.53%). Total plate counts were high for bacteria (1.5 × 107Cfu/ml - 9.5 × 107Cfu/ml), #coliform (0 - 7.0 × 106Cfu/ml) and fungi (6.0 × 106 - 1.0 × 106) and indicates gross contamination. Bacterial isolates include species of Bacillus, Escherichia coli, #Lactobacillus, #Staphylococcus, Salmonella and #Shigella, whereas molds isolated belongs to the genera, Fusarium, #Aspergillus, Penicillium, Rhizopus and Mucor. Saccharomyces species were the only yeast isolated.

Abstract

#Klippel-Trenaunay-Weber syndrome is a rare congenital disorder characterized by the triad of capillary malformations, bony or soft tissue hypertrophy usually of lower limbs, and #venous varicosities or malformations [1], both genders are equally affected. The prevalence is estimated 1 in 20 000 to 1 in 100 000 live births [2]. A 25-year-old male with Klippel - Trenaunay - Weber syndrome (KTWS) presented with a new onset atrial fibrillation in May 2013 without reversion to #sinusrhythm. His medical history included varicose disease in lower limbs (Figure 1), mental retardation and a history of progressive #dyspnea. Initial assessment was done with an echo showing a dilatation of left atrium (LA), generalized left ventricular #hypokinesia (LVHY), ejection fraction (EF): 40% with preserved right ventricular function, moderate mitral insufficiency, pulmonary and tricuspid mild insufficiency without evidence of #pulmonaryhypertension (Figure 2).

Abstract

An 89-year-old man was admitted to our service for worsening #asthenia and #dyspnea over a period of 3 weeks. His history was positive for arterial hypertension, ischemic heart disease, and lowgrade non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (#lymphoplasmacyticlymphoma) treated with #chemotherapy consisting of rituximab, #prednisone, doxorubicin, #cyclophosphamide and vincristine (R-CHOP). Moreover, he suffered multiple episodes of cold agglutinin anaemia secondary to lymphoma. Routine laboratory showed mild anemia (haemoglobin of 7.6 g/dl); the remainder of his laboratory evaluation was within normal limits apart from mild deficiency of folic acid and vitamin B-12. Because of his cardiac condition transfusion threshold was set at 8.0 g/dl and blood transfusion was ordered. Patient’s group was O Rh+. The hospital blood transfusion laboratory detected the presence of #coldagglutinins. The nurse routinely verified recipient’s and donor’s group at the patient’s bedside prior to transfusion.




Can Modern Radiotherapy be used for Extensive Skin Field #Cancerisation: An Update on Current Treatment Options by Lynda J Spelman in BJSTR


The use of #Radiotherapy (RT) for skin cancer by #dermatologists has decreased since the latter half of last century for many reasons. Driven by clinical need, radiation oncologists, radiation biologists and #physicists, have progressed RT in many ways over the course of the last fifty years. The creation of multidisciplinary meetings for clinicians involved in skin cancer has put the #specialisties of dermatology and radiation oncology in touch. With better modalities and techniques, is there a new role for RT in skin cancer?. A particular scenario is the treatment of Extensive Skin Field #Cancerisation (ESFC), where in situ disease can cause significant #symptoms and can lead to invasive disease. Current dermatologic and traditional radiation treatments have been disappointing, especially for large convex surfaces of sun-exposed areas such as scalps.

Dual Role of Interleukin-37 As an #Anti-Inflammatory and A Regulatory #Cytokine In EAE by Zhangbo Chen in BJSTR

Abstract

#Interleukin 37 (IL-37) was known as IL-1F7 before Nold and his colleagues renamed it. Nold believed that IL-37 which expressed on cells including macrophages or epithelial cells plays an anti-#inflammatoryeffect under the condition of intracellular and extracellular. IL-37 almost completely suppresses the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, whereas the abundance of these cytokines increased with silencing of endogenous IL-37 in human cells [1]. Most studies have now focused on the function of IL-37 as an anti-inflammatory cytokine, while other related functions are still being explored. An autoimmune disease is a condition in which the immune system attacks the body [2,3]. Recent research confirmed that IL-37 is associated with many autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and multiple sclerosis (MS) [4-7]. These studies have shown that IL-37 could inhibit proinflammatorycytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1α, IL-1β, IL-6, G-CSF and GM-CSF [1-3].

Tabular Organisation of Ionothermally Prepared MOFs To Extrapolate Chemical Trends and Successfully Predict #Synthesis Results by Eun Young Choi in BJSTR

#Metalorganic frameworks, or MOFs, have a strength over other classes of materials in which the constituents of the frameworks may be chosen among the vast range of #organicligands and metals, and such combination leads to nearly infinite possibility of novel frameworks. This freedom of choices expands when the variety of #synthesis methods for MOFs is considered. Ionothermal synthesis, which makes use of ionic liquids for both the purpose of solvent and template, is a relatively recently introduced method that best exercises such potential on its own [1], along with many advantages like safety, which is associated with the low #vapourpressure of #ionicliquids [2], #thermalstability [3], and safety in environmental means relative to its organic predecessors [4]. The cation and anion that comprises the ionic solvent used in the method may be easily substituted with their close chemical relatives, chloride with another #halide for example, and finely tune the reaction environment.

Automated Diagnostic Classifier for Extra #OcularDiseases by Shreya Shah in BJSTR



Abstract

Objective: To develop an automated system to classify extra #oculardiseases
Study Design: Retrospective cohort
Method: The entire dataset consists of about 7,244 labelled images of patients from Drashti Netralaya Eye Hospital in Gujarat, India. Five diseases were selected for classification: #Cornealscars, #DermoidCyst, #Strabismus, #Ptosis, and Ocular Surface Disease. Histogram of Oriented Gradient feature descriptors were utilized with Support Vector Machines and Logistic Regression. Modern Neural Network architectures were also applied. Bottleneck CNN and Logistic Regression (Balanced) both performed well according to different error measurements. This work outlines the development of a classifier for extra ocular conditions that uses natural, noisy images of faces taken with point-and-shoot cameras.

Transient #Osteoporosis of the Hip in Non-Pregnant Woman by Amelia de Almeida in BJSTR


Introduction: Transient #osteoporosis of the hip is an uncommon condition characterized by pain in the hip and pronounced #osteopenia of the femoral head and neck. TOH is a self- limiting condition typically associated with the third trimester of the pregnancy. The authors present a case of transient osteoporosis of the hip that was complicated by a pathologic neck fracture. A 26-year-old woman, non-pregnant, was present with a history of right hip pain after minor #trauma. Radiographs showed fracture of right neck #femur and a severe osteopenia. She underwent closed reduction and internal fixation of the right hip without complications. In follow-up at 3 months, the patients referred hip pain and the #radiography showed non-union #fracture. Before excluded diagnosis of #oncologicdisease, she was submitted a new surgery. In follow up at 4 years, the hip pain and limited #mobility in right hip was persisting.

Clinical Outcome and Benefits with Bio Absorbable #CoronaryStent by Sedigheh Asgary in BJSTR

The reported outcomes of the above mentioned clinical trials are major adverse cardiac events (MACE), which is a composite of adverse cardiac events including cardiac mortality, #myocardialinfarction (MI), and target lesion revascularization (TLR) and target #vesselrevascularization(TVR); all-cause-mortality; #cardiacmortality; MI; stent thrombosis (ST); late stent thrombosis(LST); TLR; and TVR.

Possible Improvement of Liver Steatosis Associated with Elevated Creatine Phosphokinase Level Due to Subclinical Hypothyroidism by #ThyroidHormone Replacement Therapy by Ken Sato in BJSTR

Abstract

A 71-year-old man suffering from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, diabetes and #dyslipidemia was hospitalized for elevated #creatinephosphokinase levels. Discontinuation of antihyperlipidemic agents and #rehydration could not normalize creatine phosphokinase levels. Findings of liver biopsy were compatible with non-alcoholic #steatohepatitis. Based on the detailed evaluations, he was diagnosed as hypothyroidism. Thyroid hormone replacement therapy gradually improved his thyroid function and creatine phosphokinase levels. Notably, the repeated liver biopsy after the therapy showed histological improvement of #steatosis. We should suspect “subclinical” hypothyroidism in case of unexplained elevation of creatine phosphokinase levels during the course or at the onset of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease / nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.

Groin Pain In Pregnancy - Is It Omnious? by Chonkar Sonali in BJSTR

Abstract

#Pregnancy has been known to put women in a #hypercoagulablestate. This has been postulated to be the body’s #physiologicalresponse to the maternal’s susceptibility to bleeding risks during the #antenatal and postnatal period [1-3]. Thus, pregnant women are four to five times more likely to develop #venousthromboembolism (VTE) [4], putting the incidence to about 0.71 per 1000 pregnancies [4]. VTE is known to affect pregnant women from 1st trimester up to post partum [5] with the risk of VTE being higher as the woman progresses later in her pregnancy [6]. VTE in pregnancy is also more known to affect the left lower limb than the right, with a weighted event rate of 77.2% for left sided or bilateral lower limb deep vein thrombosis and 21.5% for right sided deep vein #thrombosis [5].

Association between #MetabolicSyndrome(Mets) and Physical Function in Community-Dwelling Older Women in Korea by Seung youn Hong in BJSTR

Abstract

Background: #MetabolicSyndrome (MetS) is a complex disorder unifying #dyslipidemia, #insulinresistance, and #hypertension. MetS has been well known as a primary risk factor for diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The loss of #musclemass and strength with age is also significantly associated with type II diabetes and cardiovascular disease in older adults. Although these two phenomena seem to be associated with each other, little is known concerning the relationship between MetS and body composition status as well as physical function specific to Korean older women, who have a higher incidence of cardiovascular disease and type Ii diabetes and also have lowered #physicalfunction. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between Metabolic syndrome and #bodycomposition & #physicalfunction in older women in Korea.
